Extraordinary Ministers
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the parish priest in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass and in taking Holy Communion to the sick and housebound between the priest’s visits. This ministry helps ensure that all members of the parish, especially those unable to attend Mass in person, are able to receive the Eucharist regularly and remain connected to the worshipping life of the Church.
Extraordinary Ministers serve when there is a genuine pastoral need, supporting the priest so that Holy Communion may be distributed prayerfully and reverently. This is a quiet ministry of service, rooted in humility and care for the sacred gift of the Eucharist, and is always carried out in collaboration with the Parish Priest.
On this page you can find a talk given by Fr Benedict to our parish’s Extraordinary Ministers, which may be helpful if you are considering volunteering for this ministry, as well as guidance for minsters, and the current rotas for ministry within Mass.
Extraordinary Ministers are appointed by the Parish Priest and serve within the life of the parish for a period of time. If you would like to learn more about this ministry, or feel called to serve in this way, please contact Fr Benedict.
If Fr Benedict appoints you as an Extraordinary Minister, he will invite you to contact Andrew Maund, who prepares the rotas for the weekend Masses. Andrew can be contacted at: amaund167@sky.com
